Patient: Female, 45 years old
Case: Nerve pain in neck and arm
Treatment Solutions: Manual therapy, postural correction, and a customised muscle- strengthening programme
MEET AND CONSULT:
Patient described a constant pain on the left side of her neck, coupled with deep shooting pain down her entire left outer portion of her arm to three fingers in her hand, that caused her sleepless nights and appetite loss, resulting in a lack of concentration at work.
She had seen a doctor and was treated conservatively with pain and nerve medication before being referred to us for physiotherapy.
ASSESS, TREAT, REVIEW:
After assessment, it was ascertained that the patient likely had an irritated nerve from her cervical spine at C5/C6, C6/C7 levels. Manual therapy was performed during the treatment to manage her condition and to promote healing of the irritated nerve.
TREAT & SUPPORT:
Our therapist also spent time educating her on the importance of taking the prescribed medication on a regular basis to help in her recovery.
Following a few sessions of physiotherapy that included manual therapy, postural correction, and a customised muscle-strengthening programme, the patient recovered from her pain and regained normal functional use of her left arm and hand.
